ScanVeer ("we", "the app") helps you scan food, cosmetic, and supplement products and see an instant health rating. We respect your privacy and keep the data we collect to the minimum needed to run the app.
To look up products and show ratings, to keep you signed in, to sync your history and preferences, to provide and manage your subscription, and to improve the app. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it to target advertising to you. To provide ratings and run the app we rely on: Open Food Facts, Open Beauty Facts, Open Products Facts, and the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (product data); UPCitemdb (product photos by barcode); Apple and RevenueCat (in-app subscriptions on iOS); Stripe (subscriptions on web and Android); Upstash (secure account storage); and Vercel (hosting). When you scan a product, its barcode is sent to these product databases to retrieve information. We do not share your identity with them.
When you add a product and choose to share it with everyone, the label photos you took are uploaded with it so a reviewer can check that the ingredients match the actual package before it goes live. These photos are only ever seen by a ScanVeer reviewer — they are never shown in the app, never published, and never given a public link. They are deleted as soon as the product is approved or rejected, and in any case automatically within 30 days. Photos you take for a product you keep only on your own device are never uploaded at all.
ScanVeer participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program: as an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases made through the "Where to buy" links, at no extra cost to you. Tapping one opens Amazon and passes along our affiliate tag plus the scanned product's barcode, so Amazon can credit the referral and we can see which products people buy. No account, email, name, or scan history is sent to Amazon. Once you're on Amazon, Amazon's own privacy policy governs what they collect. Affiliate links never affect a product's score or which alternatives we recommend.
You can clear your scan history and favorites in the app at any time. To delete your account and associated data, email us at privacy@scanveer.com and we will remove it.
ScanVeer is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
We may update this policy; material changes will be posted on this page with a new date.
